Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the channel introduced a completely new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about observing this lovable family navigate their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
