The Manager's Position on Celtic

McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native former Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I have a unique job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "I don't think all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in last year and was asked about his alleged buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I approach this job like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Position

Bellamy played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to finish the ongoing World Cup qualification, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in next month would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, thanks to a productive Nations League campaign, even if they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Given his current stance, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the play-offs at the earliest.
