President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Response
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to help others.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed a news show that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
